The Perfect Home Base in Incline Village

By Kathryn Reed on

The Incline Lodge is the North Shore’s only renovated boutique hotel. Located in Incline Village, the 38-room property will open this summer and is within walking distance of the shores of Lake Tahoe.

“A key difference is the culture,” General Manager Andrew Gauthier says of the inn’s transformation. “We provide guests with the opportunity to live like a local and create truly exceptional experiences while they are here. We want visitors to find inspiration, explore the outdoors and to connect with local businesses. We feel we are uniquely positioned to provide that experience.”

Friendly staff members are empowered to help guests craft the perfect experiences, whether it’s a suggestion on the many proximate beaches, directions to the incredibly scenic 3-mile East Shore Bike (and walking) Trail that runs through Incline Village, information about nearby trailheads for world-renowned mountain biking or directions to some of North Lake Tahoe’s iconic locations like Monkey Rock or Chickadee Ridge.

For those wanting to take in the local culture, the staff will impart information about events such as the annual summer Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival located down the road at Sand Harbor State Park or upcoming concerts at the Crystal Bay Club. Staff will also help with making dinner recommendations at one of the many locally owned restaurants.

Prefer to figure out your itinerary before your arrival? The Incline Lodge’s virtual concierge is your answer. This online service allows guests to ask staff questions while still at home as well as do some planning and exploration ahead of time. This online portal is available throughout a guest’s stay.

Ali and Natasha Warner, who live in Incline Village full time, bought the Nevada property in the summer of 2021. At the time the hotel was known as Parkside Inn. Today, it’s hard to recognize this as the same building; it has been gutted practically to the studs and looks completely different outside and inside. After all the renovations, the couple is excited to open the doors to travelers from near and far.

The owners say that their mission with this hotel is to “provide guest-first hospitality and empower transformational experiences for our visitors to create memories they will cherish forever.”

One of the beautiful things about The Incline Lodge is that it’s located in the center of so much of the action going on in the Lake Tahoe Basin. At the same time, this swath of the North Shore is quieter than many of the other areas around the lake. The tranquility of Mother Nature is an overriding theme here. While the location is ideal as a launching point to all things fun, the lodge itself is more like a private mountain retreat. The lobby area is where people will find grab-and-go food items like artisan snacks, wellness beverages, packaged cold case foods, locally sourced craft beer and other adult beverages.

It’s also a place to unwind. This lobby isn’t like most hotel lobbies. It feels a bit like a gathering place where patrons are eager to share their experiences from the day and talk about what adventures tomorrow may bring. A fireplace adds to the ambiance. Even in the summer this can be a nice treat as the nights can be a bit chilly.

Another way to warm up is in the indoor pool that is heated year-round. While the lake is nearby and a perfect place to swim, boat, paddleboard and kayak, the temperature is seldom what one would call warm.

Most rooms in the two-story, L-shaped building are equipped with a king or two queen beds. Air conditioning has been added to all the rooms. Some of the rooms are adjoining, making it easy to stay connected to family and friends, and a standalone suite is also available for those looking for a larger space that is a little more secluded.

The rooms are cozy with an alpine aesthetic, custom-designed furnishings and curated artwork that will make you feel like you are in Tahoe even when you are indoors. All rooms at The Incline Lodge are outfitted with a keyless entry smart lock, 55-inch HDTV, WiFi, air-conditioning/heat with climate control, a mini-fridge and a premium bath collection. Travelers on more of a workcation than a total vacation will find the connectivity and space to set up their laptop or take a call.

The Incline Lodge’s lounge serves as a multipurpose amenity area and is perfect for intimate receptions, meetings, conferences or other group activities like birthday parties. It’s wired for all the audio-visual needs a group would need. This spot is ideal for travelers or locals wanting to gather with others.

With guest satisfaction being the focal point for the owners and staff, it’s going to be hard to leave The Incline Lodge not feeling like you are part of a family who cares about you.
